In the I-III square. In 2021, LLC “Smart Granit” (SMART GRANIT) increased granite mining and production by 67% compared to the same period in 2020.
Production performance
In the first nine months of 2021, SMART GRANIT produced 0.545 mln. tons of granite, compared to 0.325 mln. tons for the same period last year.
“The key factor in the almost 70% increase in output was the enhance in production efficiency. Such measures include the organization of scheduled repairs and, as a result, the reduction of accidental downtime of equipment. In addition, we have extended the staff time fund – the company implemented a 3-shift organization of the production process in April this year,” – said Natalia Ivanyuk, director of SMART GRANIT.
In total, for the whole last year SMART GRANIT has processed 0.5 mln. tons of granite. For 2022 it is planned to reach the level of 0.75-0.8 mln. tons.
Sales and Distribution
The growth in production indicators in 2021 was accompanied by a boost in sales. For 9 months of 2021, 0.6 million tons of finished gravel products were realized, which is by 45% more than for the same period last year. The company says that such growth was achieved due to the following factors: restructuring of the sales department, the application of a flexible pricing system and constant improvement of the service quality.
To elevate the volume of shipment, two vehicle weighing platforms were installed at the entrance to the enterprise, which allowed significantly reduce shipment-time of finished products.
The key areas of sales of crushed stone products SMART GRANIT are Zaporizhye, Dnipropetrovsk, Kharkiv region, and Mariupol.
Fixed asset upgrade
SMART GRANIT company is in the active phase of technical re-equipment and renewal of fixed assets. In the past year, a number of new mining machines were purchased: two CAT 772G trucks, two SEM 816D bulldozers, and two L956F front loaders. In addition, the crushing equipment was overhauled, and the screening system was upgraded. Currently, a project to increase the storage capacity of the enterprise to expand the range of products is being implemented. To optimize the use of resources and improve control at the enterprise, all vehicles and special equipment were equipped with fuel level sensors and GPS.
Social responsibility
In the first nine months of 2021, SMART GRANIT paid taxes totalling UAH 29.9 million.
“The company continues to improve working conditions to enable high performance of the employees. The staff motivation system was revised, a system of bonuses was introduced, taking into account both the individual contribution and the collective performance of employees. Furthermore, a KPI system for managerial personnel was introduced, enabling rapid introduction of qualitative changes in the enterprise. For the convenience of the employees of the company, a new bus was purchased, and a contractor was involved to commute personnel from different districts of the city,” – said Natalia Ivanyuk.
Under conditions of increased epidemiological danger, a decision was taken and implemented to insure all employees of the enterprise under the voluntary health insurance program at the expense of the enterprise. Furthermore, weekly visits of the doctor were organized on the territory of the enterprise, The company employs a qualified physician who accompanies preventive measures and advises staff in case of illness.
“There is no single way to achieve an efficient production and high sales, it can only be a set of interrelated and mutually reinforcing measures,” – the director of SMART GRANIT is convinced.
